Orbit Industries’ new Extra Duty While-In-Use (WIU) Weatherproof Covers are among the most advanced in the industry. The WIU Covers are available in 1-Gang and 2-Gang models, with a variety of different device configurations. The construction and design of the WIU Covers make it one of the most protective covers Orbit has produced to-date. This makes the WIU Covers suitable for use in wet locations.           The Extra Duty Covers are available in several models, each with a number of device configurations and expandable covers. The 1-Gang Covers are available in either horizontal     (WIUM-1DH) or vertical (WIUM-1DV) models. The horizontal model is expandable to 2-3/4” and 3-1/2” and the vertical model is expandable to 2-3/4” and 4”.  Each model also offers 7 different device configurations. The 2-Gang Covers (WIUM-2U) are universal and are compatible with either horizontal or vertical devices. The 2-Gang Covers are expandable to 3-1/4” and 4-1/2” and have up to 32 different device configurations. The Extra Duty WIU Covers are remarkably adaptable due to this expandability and number of configurations.

NEC requirements as listed below

Complies with NEC 2014 article 406.9 (B) (1) which states, “15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles installed in a wet location shall have an enclosure that is weatherproof whether or not the attachment plug is inserted. An outlet box hood installed for this purpose shall be listed and shall be identified as “extra-duty.”
